We have been talking about fractions for the last few weeks. This past week we have focused on equivalent fractions. One great way to help your child with fractions takes place in the kitchen. Cooking is a great way to work with fractions. HAve them help you measure your ingredients and talk about how many 1/2 cups are in 1 whole cup or how many 1/4 teaspoons are in a 1/2 teaspoon.

The only way to be proficient in fraction calculation is to master the rules first. Then you also need to know some common tricks in fraction calculation. In practicing the rules, you need a fraction calculator to check you solution. This way you can be sure that you follow and practice the rules properly.
